Hi Terras. I'm a Cambridge United fan and shareholder. I've just received a copy of the CUFC accounts for 2008-09, which includes a lagre section on our ex chairman George Rolls. It is very useful to see the facts in print at last, they serve to confirm what most fans at CUFC suspected - that Rolls cannot be trusted. You need to know what it says. Below is a copy of my post on the CUFC fans message board:
"Our ex and unlamented chairman George Rolls merits a whopping great section of his own in the accounts. It looks as though Rolls left CUFC owing us £27,567. Jesus. The Abbey naming rights for a year should have cost him £48,000 but he only paid £7,000 towards that. Conversely, after Trade Recruitment disastrously took over the CUFC commercial operation for a period, in line with their contract they billed CUFC for £21,000. The accounts say that part of this bill was off set by monies owing for the naming rights but for some reason CUFC still gave him shares worth £7,567. I make it, therefore, that we were out of pocket by £27,567."
I have a great fondness for WFC and have missed the recent trips to Dorset to combine bird and butterfly watching, canueing and drinking your excellent beers with watching CUFC. I wish you all the best - but please watch George Rolls very carefully. I'd be happy to provide more info on him if need be, including his role in the departure of our previous manager and the appointment, resignation and re-appointment of our current one. You will not know whether to laugh or cry.
